pom is a discovery app for places to eat out in Kuwait, operated by pom ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data we handle and why. Contact: [email protected].

What we collect from you

If you join the waitlist on pomknows.com, we collect your mobile number (Kuwait) and your email address. We use them only to tell you when it is your turn, and to run and secure the waitlist.

If you join pom, we also collect a username and the lenses you pick; the places you save, the tips, ratings and place suggestions you send, and your votes and guesses; the seeds you earn and spend, and the friends you let in; and basic usage and device data (such as which screens you open) needed to run and secure the app. For lookups we keep a coded (hashed) version of your number.

Public business information

To show places, we use publicly available business information: Google Places data (name, location, hours, branches) and public posts from business and creator Instagram accounts obtained through Meta's official Business Discovery API, shown with links back to the source. We do not collect private data about the people who follow or comment on those accounts.

How we use data

To run the app, personalise suggestions, manage invites and seeds, keep pom safe, and improve it. We do not sell your personal data.

Sharing

We use service providers to host and operate pom: Cloudflare (hosting), Supabase (database and sign-in), Vonage (delivering sign-in codes by SMS), and Google and Meta (place information). They process data only on our behalf. We may disclose data if required by law.

Cookies and storage

We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, to count the free places a device has previewed, and to remember your settings on this device. We do not use advertising cookies.

Third-party platforms

Data we receive through Meta (Instagram) and Google is used only for the purposes above and is handled according to their platform terms.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app (You, then delete account), which removes your profile, saves, tips, ratings, votes and your number from sign-in. You can also ask us to delete it: see data deletion.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data by emailing us.

Children

pom is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We will update this page when this policy changes.
